Former DAC President John Grant is writing a series of articles on "Art Club Business" during 2012 in the Leisure Painter magazine. The aim in these articles is to review some of the organisational problems faced by committees in the course of running their art clubs, and to invite members of other clubs to offer their comments and suggestions on the matters covered. The Leisure Painter's editor has indicated that she is happy for the material to be sourced from Dorchester Art Club activities, and she is also keen that the series should be "interactive" in the sense that it will be a forum for readers in other clubs to exchange ideas and solutions by sending them to John Grant's email address -- jaybgee@btinternet.com.
The first two articles in the series (in the January and February issues, covered a genaral introduction, and a look at problems in arranging demonstrations so that everyone in an audience is able to have a good view of the artist's work. Subsequent articles will deal with indoor and outdoor meetings, exhibitions, lighting problems, financial issues, and suggestions for those who may be inexperienced in running workshops, and so on.
