The Dorchester Art Club, in common with other art societies, requires that all work submitted for display in its exhibitions shall be the original work of the artist, and must not be a copy of any other person's copyright picture, reproduction, photograph, sketch or other work. This "rule" similarly applies to work submitted (or chosen by the Club) for inclusion in this gallery, and also to any work produced under instruction in an art class, or during a Club meeting, when it is based on compositions which may be supplied by the organiser of the class or meeting, for the purpose of practice or learning.
Thus, each reproduction of an artist's work in the Website is covered by his or her copyright protection under the Berne Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Property (Berne Convention), as indicated by the copyright notation adjoining images in this gallery. It is each artist's individual responsibility when agreeing to have their work represented in the gallery (agreement which has been sought by the Club before proceeding) to certify that each painting, drawing or other image shown is of their personal and original work, which qualifies for such copyright protection. The Dorchester Art Club and its officers cannot be held responsible for any failure by an individual artist to comply with this requirement.
